on household chores
Poch helping her dad in vacuum cleaning
Growing up, we (my siblings and I) never really experienced having a 'yaya' nor someone else (other than our parents) taking care of us for a long time. It was my mom who single-handedly took care of us (including papa) each day. She makes it a point that we're well taken cared of by providing us healthy cook meals (she's a nutritionist by profession), doing the laundry and ironing of all our clothes on her own, keeping our place tidy and in order, etc... In short, my mom was a full time homemaker when we were growing up.

Now more than ever, I appreciate the fact that we never really grew up having a 'yaya' and having our mom as our sole carer when we're growing up because my mama was able to teach us the important things we need to know especially when it comes to doing household chores. I remember that each of us were given household assignments especially during weekends like washing dishes, house cleaning, washing and ironing clothes and even doing simple errands like buying some stuffs at the nearby 'sari-sari' stores or public market. I realized now all the values I've learned from those experiences are indeed priceless. And it's a great help knowing all those things especially now that I have my own family to take good care of on my own in a foreign land.We (Thomas and I) have been teaching our daughter, Cybelle, some simple household chores in order to start passing on the skills and values of learning how to do household chores. We took the opportunities when she was really up to helping us do the household works like the times when the pics on this post were taken. There are times that she would volunteer herself in doing a particular tasks or would even asks us to give her some job to do. But there are also times that laziness kicks into her that no amount of encouragement really works for her to do a job. And lately, we found out that she likes us to use this phrase, "Pangga, I got a job for you...", when requesting her to do something. So far, she responds to it positively but we don't know for how long... hehehe I'll keep you posted on the developments in my future blogs. =)
